“From the age of 4, I knew I wanted to perform. I worked hard on learning to write so that I could recreate and act in my own versions of classic stories. I even memorised the lines of every Whoopi Goldberg movie and forced my family to sit through everything I created.

My professional career started when I was 8, and although I now have over 20 years of experience in the industry, I didn’t come from a privileged background. Nor did I have anyone in my family who could connect me to the industry. The odds were very much against me. It was only after I was offered a full scholarship to train at a full-time theatre school and be a part of the fly-on-the-wall BBC series ‘Paddington Green’ that I was able to have a real shot at an acting career. Looking back, I realise how much I would have benefited from having a mentor to help me navigate this industry successfully.

I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma at 24 while filming a lead role in a television series. That caused me to seriously reflect on my purpose in life. So I made the decision to redefine my career and I set up my professional acting studio, DMA London. It’s purpose was to focus on helping young talent gain access to the entertainment industry - and give them everything I wish someone had given me.

Since 2016, I've dedicated myself to mentoring young creative talent through DMA London. Often, I've personally funded their development and guided their transition into successful careers in the entertainment industry. Many of these individuals have gone on to achieve international acclaim and win prestigious awards. Through my work, I've recognized the critical importance of bridging the gap between this exceptional talent pool and the industry at large. As a result, I founded The DMA Foundation to continue supporting talented young, underrepresented creatives. However, to sustain and expand our impact, The DMA Foundation relies on the generous contributions of donors like you.”
